We are leaders in the resource management law field, available to assist clients with all environmental matters.

The Resource Management Act manages the use of natural and physical resources within our environment. District and regional plans prescribe the rules that must be complied with when carrying out any activities involving land, water or air. The rules may require a resource consent to be obtained to carry out an activity, which could range from extending your house to significant commercial development. It is important that you are aware of the requirements of the Resource Management Act as it does contain substantial penalties for failure to comply.

We provide advice on all aspects of resource management law, including:

  • Strategic, policy and practical advice on resource management issues
  • Obtaining resource consents, plan changes, certificates of compliance, designations or other environmental approvals
  • Preparation and presentation of submissions in opposition to resource management applications
  • Preparation and advice on district and regional plans, policy statements, and submissions on plan changes
  • The interrelationship of Treaty of Waitangi and resource management law, and implications for landowners and iwi
