We have considerable expertise in all aspects of the community gaming industry, and partner, Jarrod True, is one of New Zealand’s foremost experts on class 4 gambling.

We act for a large number of trusts and clubs that operate gaming machines. We have represented clients in numerous successful Gambling Commission appeals. The firm regularly makes submissions to both the Department of Internal Affairs and the Government on gaming regulations and policies, and we have been actively involved in compliance issues that have arisen under the Gambling Act 2003. Partner, Jarrod True, is the author of the only publication on class 4 gambling, the New Zealand Gambling Law Guide.

Other industry specific work which we have carried out includes:

  • Charitable trust and non-profit company formation and structure advice
  • Gaming licence applications and renewals
  • Applications for Territorial Authority consent
  • Applications for Minister’s consent to operate 30 gaming machines (club mergers)
  • Gambling Act compliance audits
  • Seminars and staff training on Gambling Act requirements and procedures
  • Assistance with obtaining approval for gaming machine equipment under the minimum standards requirements
  • Judicial review of decisions made by the Department of Internal Affairs
